TED talks pisses me off sometimes. This video ( http://www.ted.com/talks/catherine_mohr_builds_green.html ) is such bullshit that it isn’t even funny. If you haven’t seen First Earth, youtube it, and then you’ll understand why.
Also vegetarianism doesn’t help conserve shit.
At my work they had a booth in the employee break room to help the employees observe Earth Day. I wanted to yell at the lady that was paid to sit there and hand out pamphlets on what ‘you’ can do to help the Green movement. Use less… And this is how you use less … … Wow really? That’s solution to helping out the Green movement. Recycle your trash, shorter showers, bring bags to the grocery store…
We have a fucked up system. Nature gives us a very realistic solution of what to do with your piss and shit, and it doesn’t require that you flush fewer times in a day. Maybe we should rethink the system that creates septic tanks, where all the fecal matter is collected and stored in high quantities where now nature can’t use it properly and it is a problem. So instead of rethinking our whole beautiful concept of collecting our fecal matter into large useless masses. Let’s try to shit less.
The solution isn’t that you minimize your personal impact in this world. The solution is that we either come up with a better system, or we go back to the way things should be where we shit in the woods, bathe in rivers, eat food from the land we live on instead of use huge trucks and airplanes and boats, just so you can eat a banana. 90% water usage is industrial.
