The problem isn’t that you make waste. That is very normal. Nature expects you to make waste and has a process and a use for your waste. The problem is that there are seven billion people making waste, and that isn’t normal. Why do we pretend like helping the planet is a personal issue. If each personal minimizes their waste output we could minimize our impact, doesn’t take into account that we are creating more people that will also have to minimize their impact and more people and more people.

The problem is that people can’t understand the simple math equations involved with the problem they are attempting to solve. If ten people make ten piles of waste, and we find a way to minimize this to ten people making five piles of waste, this still doesn’t solve anything, it just puts the same problem further down the road. Because those ten people are following an exponential growth pattern that is being ignored. Those ten people in one generation are going to make another twenty people. Now all of a sudden we have thirty people, because the original ten haven’t died yet but they made twenty more people. They now produce 15 piles of trash, because we found a way to minimize each person.

Well now we have seven billion people. In another generation they might become fourteen billion. Now matter how much we minimize each single individual’s pile of trash, the amount of piles is still going to increase.
